I thought these two poems might work well together. What do you think?
Condescending sign of what’s to come
through no stature of heart
within boundaries torn by a jealousy deep,
buried in surface fixtures on bathroom walls
written in red from a plastic tube.
But we are not the same.
And, what of you, in your tite black tea
nun chucks in hand,
who’s trigger will you be pulling tonight?
Please tell me
so I can be there to bear witness.
Just a pillow over the head to muffle the band,
silencing the naysayer, you like to think,
she faltered just once in not loving you back, but
no one could tell her.
